Journey
Ronald Mayinja, born on November 9, 1978, in the serene locales of Mpenja, Gomba District, is a luminary in Uganda's vibrant kadongo kamu and band music scene. From humble beginnings, his ascent began on the stage of the National Theatre in 1997 and by 2001, he was recording emotionally charged tracks like “Claire” and “Tuli Ku Bunkenke,” which swiftly captured public imagination with their authentic portrayals of life’s complexities and social narratives. Mayinja’s body of work reflects his potent ability to merge artistry with advocacy, as seen in politically charged songs such as “Bizeemu” and “Akalulu Kako Mzee.” Beyond music, his academic pursuits saw him graduating in Social Sciences from Makerere University, and in 2021, signifying his potential political inclinations, he enrolled at the Law Development Centre. A co-founder of Golden Band following his tenure with Eagles Production, Mayinja also leads Peace for All, All for Peace, his NGO committed to unity and social outreach. His brief alliance with NUP, eventual alignment with the NRM, and contemplation of a political career reveal his multifaceted engagement with Uganda’s socio-political fabric. Despite facing challenges, including debunked health rumors, his time abroad in 2023 only solidified his commitment, returning with renewed vigor to influence through music and leadership.
